Viagra Boys - Cave World (2022)

Cave World is the third studio record from Swedish post-punks, Viagra Boys. I first heard of these fellas last May when they were set to open for a Queens of the Stone Age concert I had tickets to, unfortunately, weather caused the show to get cancelled and rescheduled and Viagra Boys were replaced with Royal Blood. I'll admit, I didn't give them a listen because I thought it was a silly name and I judged a book by its cover, what a bummer because these guys rock! I truly cannot suggest a way that this album could be improved. Their signature dark humor really shines here, especially when we take into consideration that this was written during COVID lockdown and those themes are on full display. 

Highlight: "Troglodyte" is the third track and a hilarious one. Taking aim at COVID deniers and anti-vaxxers our lead man Sebastion Murphy details how in the paleolithic era these folks "ain't no ape, you're a troglodyte". This is definitely a favorite off the record and one that I find highly listenable, another highlight for me is "Creepy Crawlers", it's definitely more out there, but it's the first time I've heard a song making fun of the loons believing in hogwash like microchips in the vaccines and adrenochrome.
