Hiss Golden Messenger - Poor Moon (2012)

I like to go into albums as blind as I can, but during the sixth track, Pittsboro Farewell, my curiosity came over me and I had to know if this was referencing the same Pittsboro I toured homes in. Yes, it was, Hiss Golden Messenger originates right here in Durham, NC where I have been establishing my career for the past several years. This is a nice record that really captures the essence of yesterday's acoustic folk that has seen a resurgence in today's alt-country. 

Highlight: Westering - I just thought this song was a beautiful blend of poetic lyrics and peaceful acoustic instruments, something that could easily be played on repeat. Funnily enough, my other favorite off this record is A Working Man Can't Make It No Way, and both of these tracks are in the bottom 3 in plays on Spotify.
